etroleum Information Publishing (PIP) began as the Lubricants Magazine Publishing, founded in Taipei, 1981. At the time, with a circulation of 4000, the Lubricants Magazine Monthly was a first in Taiwan. It catered specifically to the petroleum industry and its consumers, such as factories and workshops, by providing the latest information regarding the lubricant industry and the lubricant market.
In 1982, the first editions of the Lubricant Buyers? Guide appeared, in which, asides from information on lubricant technology, major specifications of lubricants within the Taiwan market were compiled. As the information was exact and detailed, and the guide easily accessible, it has since become a standard industry reference. The Lubricant Buyers? Guide has since been through six editions. The sixth and most recent edition includes an accompanying CD version. Since 2006, the guide has upgraded to an e-book, so that readers can easily access the latest information through our website, with no need for paper publications.
In 1994, the Lubricant Magazine was renamed Petroleum Information Publishing, and began to publish the Petroleum Information Monthly, with a circulation of 12,000 copies per month. Subscribers include roughly 7000 workshops, 2000 lubricant related businesses, publicly operated petrol stations, and also approximately 2000 factories, schools, and libraries.
In November of 1996, PIP invited engineers, editors, and other officials from Dalian Petrochemical, the Chinese Lubricants and Petroleum Products Application Research magazines, for a symposium in Taiwan regarding the Chinese lubricant market, and for business exchange.
In February of 1998, PIP invited officials from the China Petrochemical to visit Taiwan, during which an official agreement to cooperate in publishing was signed.
ther than producing Petroleum Information Monthly and Petroleum Buyers? Guide, PIP also publishes many other titles related to petroleum technology, and cooperates with Lubrication Technology Inc. in Japan in editing English versions of the International Lube Data Book ? Lubricant Equivalent, for distribution within Asia.
PIP is a subsidiary of LFH, a long-standing distributor of ExxonMobil in Taiwan. As Taiwan?s only lubricant technology and market information publisher, PIP, asides from publishing, also frequently organizes seminars, workshops, other events, as well as conduct market research, and is an important hub of information for the Taiwanese petroleum industry. |
